Annual Dinner 2017

Food food glorious food!!

Thanks to Pamela, Noel, and their helpers for arranging another successful annual dinner at the Bakery in Tatsfield.

Pamela had a very ingenious touch by presenting us all with a card stating our name, what we had ordered, and our very own logo - a pair of boots.  I do pride myself in having a good memory ....however, if I am honest, I totally forgot what I had ordered, so it was great to be reminded on the card.   Andrew the owner of the Bakery served us some delicious mouth watering courses and we all agreed the food was wonderful!

Our Chairman Arthur gave a speech thanking Pamela and the team, he then reflected on our past quarter, and how we had enjoyed so many walks and two great social events, the New Year lunch and the disco.  He then discussed our latest programme April to June and how fantastic it was to see so many walks added, nearly one every day.  He wrapped up by thanking all the volunteers for all their hard work and contributions to the group.

It was my time to be Nigel’s assistant and select a leader that had led a walk in quarter one.  Nigel impressively had the spreadsheet on a roll. I then asked Angie, a member who has transferred from another group to shout out stop. To add to the excitement, she took her time and kept saying “not yet” and then she finally said “stop!!”  The lucky winner was number 36, Kevin W. Congratulations to Kevin; unfortunately he wasn’t there to pick up his prize - a bottle of wine - in person.  Don’t forget, to win it you have to be in it! So how about becoming a leader!

It was a super evening and great to see so many members and some new faces as well.  The next event is the London Blind Walk in May where we finish at the British Legion in Oxted for tea and homemade scrummy cakes.
